How to Transfer Nevada Title

How do I transfer title of my vehicle in Nevada (NV)?

  • The state of Nevada DOES REQUIRE a Certificate of Title in order to transfer ownership of your vehicle.  However, if the vehicle is 2010 or older, and was last titled in Nevada with no liens, a title may not be required.   The sale may be completed using an Application for Duplicate Title (VP 012) and a Bill of Sale.
  • In order to complete the sale of your Nevada vehicle, you must transfer your title by entering the name of the buyer/purchaser in the buyer/purchaser field. Please PRINT and SIGN your name in the seller/owner field EXACTLY as it appears at the top of the title.
  • License plates must be removed at time of pickup.  They must be transferred to another vehicle or surrendered to the DMV within 30 days.
  • For detailed instructions on how to properly fill out and transfer your Nevada title, see the title samples below.
